We're excited to share that our portfolio company Medra has publicly launched with exclusive coverage in Endpoints News.
Founded by Stanford PhD Michelle Lee, Medra has been quietly bringing AI to the lab since 2021. While most laboratory automation remains stuck using basic programming that works with only 5-10% of instruments, Medra's platform can automate 70% of lab equipment—reading screens, pressing buttons, and handling everything from flasks to test tubes.
Medra raised $11 million from Neo and Lux Capital, with notable angels including Arc Institute co-founder Patrick Hsu and former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman.
Outset Capital is proud to be one of Medra's earlier supporters, and it has been amazing to see Michelle build the company from one person with a vision, to a strong team of 20 people from companies like Tesla, Amazon, the warehouse automation company Nimble Robotics, Musk’s brain-implant biotech Neuralink, and Scale AI.
This public launch marks Medra's transition from stealth development to scaling their "continuous science platform" across the biotech industry.
